Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation Raises $2 Million at Fundraiser Gala in New York

 

The success of the Nov. 4 New York-based fundraising gala by the Ekal Vidyalaya Foundation is likely to lead to an annual fundraiser in cities across the country.

The event, which was held at the Cipriani on Wall Street, was filled to capacity and managed to raise $2 million — $1 million of which was raised within the first 15 minutes.

Ekal has been raising funds in the U.S. through a series of concerts mainly directed at the grassroots level, but the recent event attracted the attention of corporate and wealthy individuals.

Zee Entertainment Leadership Award for FCC Chairman Ajit Pai

Ajit Pai, the Indian American chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, will be honored with the Zee Entertainment National Leadership Award in Washington, D.C. July 13.

Dr. Subhash Chandra, chairman of India-headquartered Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Ltd., will present the award to Pai, who was nominated by President Donald Trump for a second term in March.

Lawyer Sheela Murthy Featured on Zee TV’s New Show on Accomplished Indian Americans

 

Successful lawyer Sheela Murthy appeared on the first episode of Zee TV’s new series, “Those Who Made It,” which features an Indian American entrepreneur and philanthropist in every episode.

The show follows the individuals as they recount their path to success and share stories from their personal and professional lives.

The first episode that aired Oct. 14 followed Murthy, who founded the Murthy Law Firm to help other immigrants like herself maneuver through the complicated legal process.

INDIA WEST: Six Indian American Women Star in Zee TV’s Reality Show ‘Made in America’

A reality TV show, filmed in Hollywood, which will feature six second-generation South Asian millennial women, is all set to be telecast on Zee TV.

Former Miss India Southern California Priyadarshini G. Roy is among the contestants on the English language reality program, titled, “Made in America,” which features former Miss America Nina Davaluri, as the host.

Los Angeles based actress Priyadarshini G. Roy is a renaissance woman. She’s actor, singer, dancer, model, writer and triple pageant queen. Some of her titles include: “Miss India USA Miss Talented ’13”, and  “Miss India Southern CA ’12”. Roy has also been a contestant on American IdolX FactorThe Voice, as well as SaReGaMaPa USA.

NEW YORK FILM ACADEMY: NYFA GRAD KALPANA MALVIYA'S 'MADE IN AMERICA' TO AIR ON ZEE TV

Kalpana Malviya is a New York Film Academy graduate who’s been blazing a trail in new television programing. Her new show, “Made in America,” is the first English language reality TV program designed for South East Asians to be shot in Hollywood. But she’s not content in just creating new programing, she’s also determined to bring the next generation of content makers with her.

“Somebody helped me. I’m not too big to help anybody,” Malviya told me under a shady tree just outside of the studio where “Made in America” was shooting a dramatic prison scene. Malviya’s passion is earnest and forthright, “(students) have fresh ideas. We can learn from them and also guide them along the way.”
